OpenAI will add character cameos to Sora

OpenAI published the development roadmap for Sora, and you know what? It seems the company finally realized that video generation isn’t just a technological demonstration. But a tool that people need to actually use. Bill Peebles, project head, announced a whole set of updates, and some of them are really interesting.

One feature – character cameos. Literally in a couple days you’ll be able to upload your dog, guinea pig, favorite toy or anything at all. And then insert them into generated videos. But most curious – the ability to create cameos from characters that Sora itself generated. The neural network created a cool hero, you save it, and then use in other videos. Sora’s head expects an explosion of cameos and promises to update the interface that will show trending options in real time.

Next come basic video editing capabilities. They’ll start with splicing multiple clips, though they promise to add powerful tools later. The social network inside Sora will also be upgraded. Channels will appear for specific groups like university, company or sports club.

And here’s what’s telling: the team acknowledges that excessive moderation irritates users and is working to reduce it. Plus they’re increasing app performance. And the Android version will come out “soon” – without specific dates of course.

All this looks like an attempt to turn a technological demonstration into a real product.

OpenAGI released the Lux model that overtakes Google and OpenAI

Startup OpenAGI released the Lux model for computer control and claims this is a breakthrough. According to benchmarks, the model overtakes analogues from Google, OpenAI and Anthropic by a whole generation. Moreover, it works faster. About 1 second per step instead of 3 seconds for competitors. And 10 times cheaper in cost per processing 1 token.
